Welcome to Rainbow Montessori's Science Lab!

Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to our Science Lab. For those of you who don’t know who I am, let me introduce myself. My name is Ms. Nanda Prasad. I have been teaching at Rainbow Montessori since 1987.

It certainly has been wonderful experience for me to teach Science and Art to Kindergarten through Sixth grades during the past years. By observing the reaction of the children throughout the years, I hope to make this another exciting and successful year for all.

As you may have already noticed, the Science program is in progress. This Science Lab will introduce students to The Scientific Method. It will encourage them to understand Science. The lab will teach students:

• How to think scientifically
• How to reason logically
• How to make observations
• How to perform experiments and draw conclusions
• How to make an intelligent guess in advance as to what a conclusion might be

I think hands-on-Science is an exciting and dynamic way to communicate the basic concepts of Elementary Science to our students. We spend all day dispensing information and opinions in other subject areas, but in Science, students need to acquire the information and develop ideas themselves.

Each class will be studying many new and exciting subjects in science this year. Children will be learning about plants and animals, what makes up the universe, machines and the work they do, changes in the Earth, and host of other science facts and concepts. All of our lessons will be designed to help your child understand more about the world and make host of self-initiated scientific discoveries.
